I believe the Lord helped us AT Central Wesleyan … A Caring, Bible Teaching, People Reaching Church, ….Yesterday As we sought to properly present the Truth (Promise) God gives in Jeremiah 29:11. We used the three boxes to explain that “The Enemy” tries to bind you up in a Box: #1. The ‘Wrong Thoughts About God’ Box #2. The ‘Wrong Thoughts About Yourself’ Box. @ #3. The Box that wants to dominate your thinking and actions ….. ‘Where you’re at, and what you do, right now, doesn’t matter in the future’ Box. … We considered the Truth, and that is God Does Discipline His People, and does so now, at the Present time, because He wants to fulfill His “good plans” in you, in the future. So-o-o-o-o-o, Don’t lose hope in the present struggling and stretching, but Trust In Him, Lean Upon Him, & Learn from Him. Don’t rush Him, rather “Wait upon Him” Why? Because His timing is perfect, whether it’s One Day to Him, which is as a 1000 years; or vice versa; “He does ALL THINGS WELL!” Amen! Don’t Forget “The Mid Week Service” 7 PM Wed. and Please Participate in The Prayers using the MidWeek Prayer List. Just leave your e mail address at The Church Website to start receiving it:

Happy Times at our Church.
Perhaps you’ve seen Central Signboard: “GET UP, GET READY AND COME TO CHURCH . . . You Can Watch The Super Bowl Later!” We, at Central, believe that priorities always take precedence over non essentials. That’s why we have challenged so many, with the question: “Super Bowl –or- Mighty God; You Make The Call!” Everybody decides what is of utmost importance to them. … of what is so fundamental, so life changing, that they literally give their all to find what their heart of hearts chooses. In the fashion of Joshua, Elijah challenged the 400 prophets of Baal, and the multitudes of the Hebrews who blinded by the country’s leaders: Ahab and Jezabell. He boldly stood in front of the seething crowd, and said, “You Make The Call, …If God is God, then serve him, and if Baal is god, then bow down to him.” Pastor Miller will be preaching to the 10:30 crowd about the Super Bowl of 1st Kings, chapter 18. I admire Elijah, he wasn’t going to back down on account of the people, nor was he going to let God down either. Unlike the 45 prior Super Bowls of football, the Super Bowl of I Kings 18 impacted the nation of Israel, saving them for certain judgment and destruction. Does God still save? Are men and women still willing to humble themselves and give God His rightful place (Mt 6:33.)
This Sunday, you’re invited to come ½ hour early, at 9:00 am to pray for the Lord’s Day, and the church’s of Elwood and round about. Sunday School Classes begin promptly at 9:30 AM. The Morning Worship Service led by Charles Best, Sherrill Miller, Dennis Karch and Bill Hunt begins at 10:30 am. The Stewardship Committee encourages every person to give something in the offering even if they are facing meager fare, because if one gives an offering, it certainly motivates them to have a heart for God’s work and His people. We do want to pray for those defending our country and freedom, and for those who are in positions of leadership in our government local and nationwide. The Prayer Chain is active and used on an almost daily basis. The number of 552-3642 will give you an opportunity to share a prayer need, and one may learn more about Central Wesleyan by visiting on the web.
A Bible Study for Women Only will be offered on Wednesday nites at 6:30 pm. The Beth Moore Bible Study will be facilitated by Lori Reynolds, and other women. Those interested may call at the church to register. The cost of the materials is $20, with the understanding, that no woman will be left behind, if finances is a problem. Note the Church’s phone numbers is above. The rest of the Central Congregation, and those from the community are welcome to participate in the Midweek Service in The Sanctuary at 7 PM.

… You can watch the Super Bowl Later! Brothers, (Sisters, Young and Old), will you pray for this Sunday’s service. I know it’s a week early from what Indianapolis seems to think is going to be a millions of dollars day, but more important than all of the previous 45 Super Bowls, the Super Bowl of I Kings 18 is more precious, it meant the salvation of the Israelite Kingdom from judgement and destruction. This Sunday, be reminded again, How Elijah Stood Up Against Ahab and Jezebel, and the 400 False Prophets of Baal! Nope, He wouldn’t back down from the multitude, He didn’t back out of the challenge to a contest by fire, and he didn’t let the Lord down either. We need heroes like him! Men, Women, and Young People, with conviction, backbone, faith and faithfulness. Will you be such a man, for such a time, as this?

The Writer in the Book of Hebrews (10:11) has written, “Day after day, every priest stands and performs all his religious duties; again and agin he offers the same sacrifices, which can never take away sins.” We might say, “Boring!” – or – “Same old, Same old.” But when you think about it, isn’t it great God gives us the opportunity, and the grace, to walk with Him, and to carry on with joy & faithfulness, our duties of Trusting & Obeying! “When we walk with the Lord, in the Light of His Word, What a glory He sheds on our way. While we do His good will, He abides with us still, and with all who will trust and obey.” That’s not all, the contrast the inspired writer makes here is, that we have witnessed the Messiah’s going above and beyond! The former duties had to be done day after day, each da, every day, but Jesus, by doing His Father’s will, has made us holy thru His sacrifice, “once and for all.” Hallelujah! What a Savior. : : I hope you’ll make every effort (Heb. 10:22, 23,24, & esp. 25) to participate in those biblical efforts, providing astounding results! You’ll be a blessing to others, and yours will be a blessing.

Tonight in the Midweek Service, I’m going to recount a little story. …about one of those experiences that put me in the hot seat. Have you ever been confronted by a fellow who said, he was God? Acts 18:22-__. Paul then stood up in the meeting of the Areopagus and said: “Men of Athens! I see that in every way you are very religious.”

I read the Ad. It can help my mood. Like the Old “Hi Karate” commercial, I’ll be fighting the women off. But, Whoa! I’m thinking about “Pleasing God / About my life being “A Sweet Smelling Sacrifice TO GOD.” So I checked out II Corinthians 2:15 and the neighbering Scriptures, and . . .

That’s what David Murrow says! So he speaks of men being bored, uneasy, and of them wanting to play golf more than go to Church. You got a response to that? Well, one man who had served as an elder said, “Oh, I tried that … to lead as a man. But instead of serving as a man, they want me to act like “feminish” … to be careful, sentimental, and thrifty and to make every decision by consensus; talk everything to death. Decisions might take months or years to meke, and if someone’s feelings might be hurt, we don’t move forward.” I certainly see an approach, an angle, where the church want to be men, is where they have an important part to serve, and like the old leadership principle, “If you give them a job, give ‘em the authority, and the permission to go ahead, and ‘git her done.” Could that approach be more attractive to men?

The Question: Why has our Church Insurance gone up? The Answer: Because the “Replacement Costs” have gone up: (that is, what it would cost – today – to reconstruct the three buildings right back to their present shape.) For The Church, it would take 22% more dollars, & For The Parsonage, 12% more, and it would take 10% more to replace the Fellowship Hall. Expensive you say?
YOU BET!
But you don’t want to be “Without It!” More than the cost of the insurance think about the cost if we had to replace the buildings. Have you considered how precious Jesus is to you? The Apostle, Peter said, “Unto you who believe, He is precious!” That should fill your heart with thanks, and your mouth with praise. At one point, Jesus said, “If you don’t, then the rocks will cry out!” Oh, I’m looking forward to the Midweek Service, tonight, at 7 PM. There will be the Opportunity to Pray together, the Prayer List, and the Privilege of opening God’s Word up together, and letting the Word speak to us. “I love the thrill that I feel when I get together with God’s wonderful people.”
